2009 ==2010 Match Reports

Bungay Town v SJG 1-3

11-10-09

First game away to Bungay. Started a bit rusty, passes going astray. Out of the blue went 1 up, Gabi’s shot hit the post then the keeper and lastly went in. Our new player Mags up front worked hard, had a shooting chance, keeper saved well. Chances fell to Porsha, Betty and Smudge, all going wide. As we closed in for half time, Bungay got a deserved leveler, a mix up in our goalmouth, 1-1. Straight away got back in front, Betty finishing of a neat move. H/T 2-1 up.

Second half wind behind us, on top by now, Mags, Lissa and Porsha once again clear cut chances went begging. Porsha free kick just wide. Betty having a great match got us a safety cushion we needed, super run and shot drilled in, 3-1. Lissa in midfield playing some delightful balls to other white shirted players. Smudge in the space of 5 minutes hit post and bar. P, Gabi and Meg looked comfortable as game wore on. But for some great keeping by Bungay keeper score could have been a lot more. Well good start, 3 points on the board.

RPOM Gabi (all action display)

North Walsham v SJG 3-1

18-10-09

Swindell Girls U16

All aboard the cars and off to North Walsham (Millfield School). First game this season under 16’s. One player down, no regular keeper, lost by three goals to one. Got off to the best possible start, Smudge shot bounced over the North Walsham keeper and in. One up after only one and a half minutes. Porsha nearly made it two, it just flew over. Mags up front holding the ball up well. Had North Walsham pinned in their own half for long periods. Another Swindell attack, penalty, handball, should have doubled our score, Mags took the spot kick (saved) turning point as it turned out. North Walshams no.16. fast, bags of skill, good player, one hairy moment, shot flashed inches wide. Betty, Gabi good chances, Lissa in goal a surprise cool and calm, well in control nothing roughed her feathers, h/t one up. This game should have been out of our opponents sight.

Second half North Walsham’s intent was clear, two super chances went begging, like last week an awful mixup and you guessed it, no.14. nipped in to score, one all, not long after 2-1 down, another howler, bad 10 minutes. Needed to regroup and to our credit we did just that. Mags lots and lots of shots, wide, over and keeper saving. Gabi, Porsha, Smudge and Bet to many chances to mention. Paisley great blocks, Meg headering out worked really hard. Well as always in footballyou dont get what you deserve, a killer blow right at the death. North Walsham no.7., great run, shot, in game finished. Come on girls chins up, great effort, unlucky on the day. Thanks to ref Mr T Bullman who had a solid game.

RPOM Lissa ( a little diamond in goal )

St Benets v SJG 2-2

1-11-09

Swindell Girls U17

In driving rain and gale force winds we went to St  Benets and came away with a 2-2 draw. Swindell with only seven players against our opposition who had nine. Megan in goal kicked off with the wind behind them. Smudge got us off to a fantastic start, a run and a cool finish. Betty had opportunities on her own to seal this match by half time. Porsha was running all over, Smudge covering all the pitch, Lissa hard working, Gabi hard nut never giving in. Paisley as ever didn’t let anyone down. Gabi got our important second ran through the middle and excellent finish, 2 up cruise control.

Second half, St Benets really didn’t trouble us to much, it was a case of miss after miss, hit the woodwork, Benets keeper done really well shot stopping. Seven minutes left  St Benets  got one back. Megan who had an extremely super match stopped a certain leveller, but had no chance with St Benets equalizer. All in all our girls didn’t really deserve that, but once again opportunities missed, got a point should have been three.

RPOM  all seven

SJG v Hethersett Athletic 0 - 6

 8-11-09

Swindell Girls U17

The heaviest defeat for quite some time at home to a very strong Hethersett girls under 17 outfit. A six nil scoreline to the hearts really didn’t reflect the whole game. Once again we hit the woodwork on two occasions. Mags the bar Smudge the post. Megan in goal made some stunning stops, two super ones pushed over the bar. First goal very cruel for Meg, as the ball squirmed under her body, as for the second, she got her fingertips to the ball, but unfortunately it dribbled in. Hearts didn’t have it all their own way, Bet shot just over, Porsha a couple of near misses, in fact we were playing some neat football, but once again in front of goal let us down, two down half time.

Second half Swindell had a couple of goal opportunities to get back into this match, Mags & Smudge narrowly wide of the upright. Well the next goal was the important one, Hethersett got that one, and so it ended, another three flattered our opponents some what. Everyone in a white shirt worked tirelessly right up to the final whistle.

RPOM Megan (Produced some fantastic saves)

Bohemians v SJG 5 -1

15-11-09

Swindell Girls U16

Firstly like to extend a warm welcome to our new team member, Amy, our new goalkeeper and also Ellie who had her first appearance of the season. Played Bohemians at Cliff Park School and got taught a footballing lesson. Out played, out fought, muscled off the ball so easily, all in all an awful display. Too many players had an off day, it was a total shambles, it was as if nobody had played together before. Two early mistakes had us on the back foot, but we started to make inroads, Mags, Porsha close. Got back into it, Betty, dazzling solo effort pulled one back, 2-1 down half time.

We huffed and puffed second half, but Boh’s had the upper hand and we conceded three more goals, about right really, didn’t deserve anything. Boh’s far better team on the day. Bohemians 5 Swindell 1

We played like Chumps NOT Champs
